Mustang Stampede 2025

BMTA’s Mustang Stampede is one of the most anticipated dates on our calendar, aligning closely with our Strategic Plan. It’s an afternoon dedicated to celebrating our PEOPLE — recognising their achievements and strengthening the club culture that defines what it means to be part of the Herd.
Earning a place in BMTA’s Junior Mustangs Program is an incredible achievement. With approximately 4,500 junior registrations during the Junior State Cup eligibility period, selection places our 2025 Mustangs among the top 5% of junior players at BMTA. The Mustang Stampede not only celebrates each player’s selection but also brings together our 23 teams for intra-club games, uniform collection, and opportunities to connect across age groups and divisions.

Our Mustang Stampede afternoon, and the Junior Mustangs Program as a whole, would not be possible without the support of our Premium Partner, Inspire Health Services. A huge thank you to Jaiden Richards, Inspire’s Exercise Scientist, for providing first aid and physiotherapy throughout the event. We were proud to present Inspire with a framed Junior Mustangs jersey during our afternoon presentations as a token of our appreciation. Inspire will continue to deliver outstanding physiotherapy, injury management, first aid, and education to our players and community throughout the Junior Mustangs Program. BMTA is incredibly grateful for their ongoing support, including their efforts at our testing day and club training sessions. We look forward to having them with us at our lead-in carnivals and Junior State Cup.
A major highlight of the day was the announcement of our 2025 Junior Mustangs Club Captains, Charli Nikola and Kealan Chadburn, named by BMTA’s Coaching Director, Wayne Grant. Both Charli and Kealan have been part of the Junior Mustangs Program since their U10s and embody the spirit, respect, and presence of true Mustangs.
Charli began her journey at just 7 years old with the U10 Girls Red team and has never lost a Junior State Cup. She continues to excel at Opens/Prems level and has represented QRSS, Queensland, and Australia. Kealan started in U10 Boys White and has since achieved outstanding milestones, including playing at the 2024 Touch Football World Cup for the Philippines, and representing BMTA Men’s 20s at QSC and Cobras U20s at NTLs. As Club Captains, Charli and Kealan will help drive the club culture and lead our Mustangs throughout the program.

Another special moment of the afternoon was presenting our U10 players with their jerseys — a memorable milestone that marks their official entry into the Junior Mustangs Program. For many of our 2025 U10s, it is their first time being selected, and they should be extremely proud. We hope this is just the beginning of a long journey with BMTA. Thank you to our dedicated U10 head coaches: Scott Nolan (U10 Girls Red), Jasmine Gin (U10 Girls Blue), Luke Peel (U10 Girls White), Ryan Thomas (U10 Boys Red), Sarah Baartz (U10 Boys Blue), and Jay Carroll (U10 Boys White) for guiding these young players as they embark on their Mustangs journey.
This year, we introduced an exciting new feature to the Mustang Stampede: increased gameplay across teams, along with two showcase matches. Our U18 Girls and U18 Boys combined to battle it out in an entertaining 18 Mixed v 18 Mixed match, showcasing some of the best junior talent in the State. The highlight of the day, however, was undoubtedly the Coaches vs 16 Red Mixed game. Our Coaches brought the heat, taking the 16s to a thrilling drop-off where 12 Girls Red Head Coach, Tim Gall, sealed the win with an incredible try on the wing. Watching our players cheer and laugh as they saw their coaches in action on Field 1 was a truly special sight. We’re excited to make the showcase games a Mustang Stampede tradition moving forward.

Finally, the Mustang Stampede also marks the beginning of the Junior Mustangs journey for our referees. It’s fantastic to see such a strong and enthusiastic group of referees ready to learn, grow, and represent BMTA. We thank those who participated in the Stampede and wish them the best as they prepare for our lead-in carnivals and Junior State Cup.
