BMTA is pleased to announce a significant infrastructure project scheduled for 2026. Our fields will see a major light pole upgrade with 8 of our 10 light poles set to be replaced with upgraded poles ready for Season 2 competitions. This upgrade is the result of several years of planning and collaboration with Brisbane City Council, who will fully fund and deliver the project.

Our current light poles range from 15–20 metres in height. The new installations will see all poles raised to 25 metres and mounted on reinforced concrete platforms. This elevated design will reduce interference for players and deliver a more consistent spread of light across every field, enhancing visibility, safety and overall game quality.

This project is a major step forward in achieving BMTA’s Strategic Plan objectives, reinforcing our commitment to our Place and our People. The upgraded lighting will help ensure we continue delivering the highest quality playing environment for our community and lock in Whites Hill Reserve as a premium Touch Football facility for many years to come.

To complete works of this scale, we have scheduled a larger break between Season 1 and 2, to ensure the works can be safely completed without impacting scheduled competitions or events. Due to the extensive nature of the upgrade, BMTA will implement a small adjustment to the Season 1 calendar, shortening the competitions by two rounds. This change will allow sufficient time for the project to be completed safely and efficiently, ensuring the new lighting is ready to elevate the player experience from the very first round of Season 2.
