Update #1 – BMTA Operations & Cyclone Alfred

Dear Members & BMTA Community,

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to monitor Cyclone Alfred and its potential impact. Our priority is the safety and well-being of our members, staff, and volunteers. Based on the latest forecasts, we would like to provide the following updates regarding BMTA competitions, programs, and office operations for the remainder of the week:

✅ Proceeding as Scheduled:

  • Tuesday Adult Social & Junior Mustangs Club Training

⏳ Pending Review (Update by Midday Wednesday):

  • Wednesday Adult Social

❌ Cancelled:

  • All Thursday and Friday competitions

  • Sunday Mustang Team trainings

  • All other activities from Thurs-Sun

🏢 BMTA Office & Field Closure:

  • Thursday–Sunday

At this stage, current weather advice indicates that Tuesday’s activities can proceed as planned. We will reassess conditions on Wednesday morning and provide a midday update regarding Wednesday evening matches. However, with Cyclone Alfred expected to intensify later in the week, all activities from Thursday onward have been cancelled to ensure the safety of our community. BMTA fields will be closed to all activities from Thursday to Sunday.

Looking ahead, matches scheduled for next week will be subject to field conditions, and we will provide further updates on Monday. We appreciate your patience and will keep you informed as the situation develops.

The BMTA office will be closed from Thursday and staff will work from home where possible and safe to do so, we kindly ask that members avoid contacting our team where possible. This will allow our team to work together to provide public updates as early as possible, rather than responding to individual queries.

As the cyclone nears, we urge everyone to take necessary precautions—secure your homes, gather essential supplies, and stay informed through official weather updates. Your safety is our top priority, and we appreciate your cooperation during this time.

Please stay safe, and we will continue to provide updates as needed.
