BMTA To Launch Adult Social Individual Fee Trial In 2026

Brisbane Metropolitan Touch Association (BMTA) is committed to ensuring our competitions are easy to access, simple to navigate and transparent for all members. After careful consideration and consultation, BMTA will trial an individual player fee model for the 2026 seasons of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday Adult Social competitions. For clarity, there will be no changes to the fee system used for Junior Competitions.

The change will see BMTA charge an individual player fee through MySideline, rather than a team fee paid via invoice by team delegates. This change is being introduced for four key reasons:

1. Supporting Team Organisers/Delegates
Over recent years we have received consistent feedback from team delegates that the process of collecting team fees can be difficult and time consuming. Moving to an individual fee will reduce the workload for volunteer organisers, removing the need for them to manage large payments on behalf of teams and ensuring they are not left carrying the risk if players do not reimburse them.

2. Aligning with National and State Frameworks
Touch Football Australia (TFA) and Queensland Touch Football (QTF) have already adopted an individual membership model. By making this change, BMTA will align with both organisations, simplifying the registration process. Members will now pay once, directly through MySideline at the time of registration, rather than paying both a team delegate directly and then separately paying a membership fee upon registration.

3. Providing Cost Transparency for all Players
Currently, team organisers are required to divide a team fee among their players, which can be difficult to calculate when final player numbers are uncertain or difficult to manage if players pull out or join late. The new structure will provide a clear, upfront fee for each player, ensuring that all members know the exact cost to participate in a competition before they commit. It will also ensure that regardless of your team make up, all players will pay the same amount to take part in Adult Social competitions.

4. Simplifying Processes for Everyone
This new model will streamline administration for BMTA staff, players and teams alike. Rather than confirming payments and registrations separately, a single registration process will now be managed through the existing MySideline system. This will reduce the time it takes for players to sign up and lessen the administrative load for BMTA staff, creating a smoother experience for all involved.

BMTA believes this shift will create a fairer, simpler and more transparent model for all participants while supporting our dedicated team organisers. We will provide more information about the fee and registration process in the lead-up to the 2026 season. Team Nominations will open in early December, when is when further information including season dates, fees and Conditions of Entry will be confirmed.

We thank our members for their continued support and look forward to delivering competitions that make it easier than ever to enjoy our game.
